I have known Victor for over 40 years, most of those years as one of our Union Representatives and as Secretary-Treasurer.
His standards are high when it comes to professionalism, assertiveness, respect, commanding attention to details, valuing members concerns and members input when negotiating their contracts.
He is a candidate with strong communication skills. Victor has an excellent rapport with the Company’s members work for which makes for a very productive and effective means to get contracts negotiated and completed.
His years of knowledge are invaluable when it comes to our benefits with the Insurance Trust Fund. He is always involved, well informed, speaks on our behalf and when it comes to any changes with our health coverage, he will communicate immediately and thoroughly to the members.
We all appreciate and know the value of our heath coverage. This is one more reason why we need Victor Torres to continue as Secretary-Treasurer with the valuable experience he has with our benefits.
I have always been grateful with the work Victor has done on previous and current contracts. My experience working for the Zoo/Park has been a positive one. It has allowed me to have a good career, health benefits and a good livelihood without attaining an advanced degree (by choice). Negotiating the current Zoo contract was a real challenge. Of course everyone had high expectations and demands, but it is not realistically possible to achieve each and every objective in one set of negotiations. With Victor’s experience, professionalism, knowledge, patience, not to mention dealing with today’s ever-changing generational and cultural demographics, Local 481 negotiated a very good contract which passed overwhelmingly by the Zoo employees.
