Steward Training and Recognition

Our stewards are the backbone of Teamsters Local 481—they are the first line of defense in the workplace! But to effectively protect your rights and enforce our contract, they need to be sharp, current, and ready for anything.

That’s why steward training is non-negotiable.

Here’s why consistency matters:

• Know the Contract Cold: Labor law and contract language can change or be interpreted differently. Training ensures our stewards always have the most up-to-date knowledge to win grievances and defend you.

Working in the trenches between rank and file, union workers and management, Shop Stewards can be called upon for contract clarification/enforcement, and for Union Representation during possible disciplinary action.
