ON THE TRAIL: The Clock is Ticking for Local 481’s Future

The energy on the campaign trail is undeniable. Over the past few weeks, your Unity Slate leadership team has been crisscrossing Local 481 shops, shaking hands, looking you in the eye, and hearing the real concerns of our membership.

We’ve seen the grit and dedication you bring to your jobs every single day. We know you deserve leadership that matches that dedication with action, transparency, and unshakeable proven strength at the bargaining table.

However, Sisters and Brothers, momentum doesn’t win elections; ballots do. The window is closing rapidly. The time to act is right now.

From Words to Deeds: The Union Bug Difference

During the campaign, there’s a lot of talk about unity and support for American workers. But talk is cheap. At Unity Slate, we believe values are demonstrated through actions, not just words.

That’s why we are incredibly proud of one specific detail in this campaign, a detail that speaks volumes about the difference between us and the opposition.

Look at our flyers, campaign stickers, t-shirts, and pens. Look closely. You’ll see the Union Bug; that little symbol that certifies the item was produced by unionized workers.

Every promotional item, every flyer, and every sticker distributed by Unity Slate was made right here in the United States, in unionized workshops.

We know the other side didn’t pay that much attention to this detail. For months they have been distributing promotional items and handouts that do not display the Union Bug.

Ask yourself: If they’re looking to cut corners on something as simple as campaign stickers, what shortcuts will they try to take on your next contract?

When we say “Unity,” we mean unity not only for our Local 481 members, but for all our Sisters and Brothers across the entire labor movement in all industries.

Your Immediate Call to Duty

We have done the legwork on the trail, but we cannot cross the finish line alone. This election will be decided by who mails in those ballots! The opposition is counting on apathy. They are counting on you leaving that ballot on your kitchen counter another day.

We need you to take action that goes beyond just your own vote. We need you to become an organizer right now.

Here is your two-step battle plan for today:

  1. Cast Your Vote IMMEDIATELY: If you have your ballot, fill it out for the entire Unity Slate right this second and get it in the mail. Do not wait until tomorrow.
  2. Be a Force Multiplier: This is how we secure a crushing victory. Turn to the Sister or Brother next to you on the line. Text three coworkers during your lunch break. Ask them a simple question: “Did you mail in your vote for the Unity Slate yet?”

Don’t just hope for a better union. Vote for it. And make sure your entire crew does too.
