Fighting for Members: A Commitment to Strength in Local 481

I have been a member of Teamsters 481 for more than twenty years. I currently serve as  Chief Shop Steward at the Safari Park Campus of the San Diego Zoo and as Vice President of the Local. Before becoming VP, I served as a Trustee. Throughout this time, I have assisted on multiple successful grievances, represented Local 481 as a delegate to Teamsters Joint Council 42 and the International, and helped negotiate three Zoo contracts.

The Local is now in a place of strength. Strong contracts have recently been ratified by multiple units, and these contracts are only possible because of the experienced leadership and strong fiscal management of Victor Torres and the Executive Board. All Teamsters deserve an Executive Board that has shown it can match employers across the negotiation table, access the full support of the entire labor community, and fight for our members in mediation, in arbitration, and on the picket lines.

I am proud to work alongside dedicated and proven leaders, and look forward to continuing to help all members of Local 481 as Vice President.
