Mark Dodson: The Experienced Leader

Hello Brothers and Sisters of Teamsters Local 481.

My name is Mark Dodson and I am running for President in the upcoming Local 481 election this November. 

I would appreciate your VOTE 🗳 ☑ for my re-election and highly recommend VOTING 🗳 ☑   for the entire Teamsters Local 481 Unity State.

Speaking of “roots,” I have been a rank and file union worker at the World-Famous, San Diego Zoo since 1981 (44 years). Retail Sales Clerk, Cook, Warehouse Worker/Delivery Driver, Lead Storekeeper, Horticulture Loan, to name a few classifications. I currently Lead the Shipping and Receiving operation at the Zoo. 

Paralleling Zoo employment, I have additionally been working through the Officer ranks of Local 481. Starting in 1998, I have served in the positions of Trustee, Recording Secretary, and Vice President, before being elected as your President, and serving in this capacity for the last 5 1/2 years.

As your elected President, I have been very dedicated, not only in leading and facilitating our monthly, General Membership Meetings and Executive Board Meetings, but also in volunteering countless hours to our special events (Annual Picnic, Padre Night, Gulls Night, SDFC Soccer Night in 2026), rallies, and other various labor functions. I’m also an official check signer, that can often be found assisting our Office Staff and Business Agents with various tasks.

I stand strong for a solvent financial position with stellar audits, all-encompassing collective bargaining agreements (CBA’s), organizing new shops,  in-person member communications, job site visitations, great camaraderie and always treating our members with dignity and respect. 

Local 481’s Automotive and Allied Industries Employees Charter, currently has many diverse companies under its jurisdiction—ABM,  ACE Parking, Avis, Ferguson, Global Parking, Hertz, Kindred Healthcare, La Mesa Lumber, Parkhouse Tire, Penske Truck Leasing, Ryder Truck Rental, SP Plus, Sylmar, United Parcel Service, Westside Building Materials Corp, and the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance). 

Please patronize our union shops whenever possible. 

In addition to being an Officer of Local 481, I am also honored to serve our members as a proud Delegate of the official, International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), the Teamsters Joint Council 42, and the San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council.

Let’s bring this election home and keep the integrity and stability of our great Local 481 intact.  Let’s move forward together with an EXPERIENCED, PROGRESSIVE, and PROVEN Executive Board.
